Performance Pinball is proud to announce the development of our new and stunningly detailed Subway Train Mod for Keith Elwin and Stern Pinball's King Kong: Myth of Terror Island for Premium and LE models. The 'Bridge of Destruction'
Stern did an amazing job creating the King Kong game environment including the "Gong" and surrounding sculpt, spider and other details in the game as have many other pinball mod companies here on Pinside. That said, there is one incredibly prominent area of the game which we have been working on visually improving. With a much more realistic representation of the original graphic style taken to the next level, this mod is a must have and extends the story and immersion of King Kong's "world under glass".
As the central focus of the game, King Kong is surrounded by a subway train which is subject to some very violent interplay with an incredible show of force. While the Kong figure and train car are nicely sculpted and brought to life, the subway train bridge and its tracks are simple flat plastics which look a bit out of place in an area of vivid detail.
To enhance this mechanism we have developed a new, more model-like, three-dimensional bridge and train track system to replace the standard, flat-plastics that ship from the factory. Our 3-piece set has been designed and modeled from the ground up to reflect the original artists intention while adding realistic details not seen on the game's artwork. All parts are original, CAD modeled, printed, hand painted and distressed using a 3-step paint process including dry-brushing and finishing with a final protective clear coat to create the ultimate in realism and bring the mechanism to life.
This kit build upon our extremely successful, Godzilla Bridge Mod and utilizes tried and true manufacturing techniques for a durable and esthetically pleasing flat-plastic replacement. With nearly 500 Godzilla bridge mods sold here and on our website and not a single failure, you can rest assured this new King Kong bridge and track system is built to last!
The 3-piece kit includes the following:
- Hand painted Train bridge (Choice of color below)
- Hand painted Train tracks (Brown/Silver)
- Train track insert (Optional install)
We are launching with three distinct paint color options which each include wood-look train ties with silver distressed tracks :
- Kong Black
- Steel Patina
- Blue Patina
Colors can be chosen to fit the look and preference of the buyer for individuality and taste.
Additionally we will be testing a 4th bridge and track color called "Grape Ape" which ties in more closely with the coloration of the original train track plastic and overall color theme of the game. Both pieces are hand painted and the tracks also include a unique purple and black distressed color combination. Based on interest we will gauge whether or not this color will be a part of the normal production or a limited run.

Installation:
Install is easy and straight forward with little-to-no technical skill required. With just three (3) connectors and two (2) (easy to access) 5/8 nuts removed, the bridge assembly slides up and out for easy transfer of parts and re-assembly. Of course, the addition of our Original Playfield Jacks™ makes access to the rear panel and train assembly even that much more accessible. Combined ordering options are available below and include a free set of the optional inserts.

We have also added an option to include a set of official Playfield Jacks. The tool that invented the category.
