If you love rock and metal and if the idea of playing a game of pinball gets you a bit misty-eyed for the past, you'll be glad to know that Sony Music's upcoming Pinball Rockscombines those into one rockin' game. The iOS app, developed by Game Prom, features tables inspired by rock legends and their music.

Gamers can play on pinball tables inspired by Alice in Chains, Bullet for My Valentine, AC/DC and Slayer. Each table is crafted to pay homage to the respective band's music.

The game will also feature rotating songs from Sony Music's stable of rock artists. When the game launches June 13, fans can play along with tracks by Chevelle, The Sword, Filter, Red, All That Remains, Hatebreed and Nonpoint. Fans also can purchase songs from the app through iTunes.

Pinball Rocks is meant to bring fans of rock music and gamers together and maybe introduce music fans to a new way to listen to songs, a Sony executive told Mashable. It will also bring exposure to a slew of rock artists as fans play along with their tracks.

The Alice in Chains, Bullet for My Valentine, AC/DC and Slayer tables are all premium and will cost $2.99 each to download. Sony said these tables are packed with Easter eggs for fans of those bands and nods to the bands' history. Alice in Chains' table, for instance, has a bonus game that unlocks the band's new single "Hollow."

The Slayer and AC/DC pinball games are already in the iTunes store, but Pinball Rocks brings all those games under one roof. Sony said there will be new premium tables for other rock artists in the future.

You can watch the trailer for the Alice in Chains table below.

Canadian music fans hoping to hear some of their favourite artists in an intimate studio setting will soon get a treat with the launch of Pinball Sessions. This web series (and its accompanying website) will premiere on Friday (May 31) and feature a steady stream of artists performing live in the studio.

First up are the Magic, whose session will hit the web tomorrow at 6 p.m. EDT. Among the other artists who have already completed three-to-four-song sessions are John K. Samson, Julie Doiron, Daniel Romano, Shotgun Jimmie, By Divine Right, the Highest Order, Legato Vipers and Gangstagrass.

Watch a trailer for the sessions below, plus check out a streaming player with songs from upcoming sessions by the Magic, Baskery and Smokekiller.

A press release explains that the series aims to capture artists in a low-pressure environment where they have an opportunity to record songs and try new things. Pinball Sessions are so named because the studio houses a pinball club, and the artists can relax by playing a few rounds.

The project was founded by Daniel Cooper, Dan Beeson and Shawna Cooper, and it will host 104 sessions over the next year. Over the weekend, Pinball Sessions will host launch parties in Guelph, Winnipeg, Calgary, Halifax and Toronto. See the details down below.

Launch parties:

5/31 Guelph, ON - Van Gogh's Ear (Flash Lightnin', Gregory Pepper, Scott Haynes)
5/31 Winnipeg, MB - The Folk Exchange (JD Edwards Band, The F-Holes, TJ Blair)
6/1 Calgary, AB - Palomino (Smokekiller, Castle River, Jeff Stuart & the Hearts)
6/1 Halifax, NS - Gus' Pub (Bad Vibrations, Graboids, Tv Freaks, Sleight, Odd Socks)
6/1 Toronto, ON - 3030 (Zebrassieres, Ketamines, Start Something, DJ Sarah Ford)

Despite the ongoing court proceedings regarding the DLC for The Pinball Arcade, it seemed like game developer's FarSight Studios were still fairly confident that future DLC for the XBLA title was still going to be making it's way to the Xbox 360. Although it's not been announced with a solid story or press release, the newly released trailer does state that the DLC will ineed be making its way to consoles.

"Table Pack 14" will showcase Centaur and Pinbot, as the Half Man Half Motorcycle looks to make pinballing even more memorable and entertaining for the fans. Check out the newly released trailer to see the upcoming table in action:
"Table Pack 14" will be "coming soon" to the XBLA. A price is also yet to be confirmed.

J.B.'s Journal: Pinball Craze

Pinball Craze

The 1950's is called the golden age of pinball but over the years the popularity of the game dropped with the creation of video games. Tonight in the Emmy award winning J.B.'s Journal, J.B. Smith
shows us how pinball is bouncing back right here in Texas.

"Right now it is experiencing the biggest resurgence that we've seen in years." Lights….bumpers…flippers…all part of a classic American game. "Pinball changes all the time, you have to understand the game,
you don't just keep banging the flippers and hope you score something. Once a year, thousands of players gather at the Texas Pinball Festival.

"When it started 13 years ago, the people on the floor were mainly guys like me, you walk through this hall today, see half women, a lot of kids."

Over 400, pinball machines to play; from the old electro-mechanical…to this latest creation, with an LCD monitor, themed after the Wizard of Oz. Butch "Get pinball back on the map again start a new renaissance, think we're doing that."

"But finding a pinball machine to play at a local business, can be difficult, that's why more players are buying them for their homes."
"As it turns out when you put out a high quality item like this, the home market steps forward says I got to have one in my home."
George "I think the collector's market has been incredibly active and impactful in the last five years." Manufacturers are targeting new players with innovative machines like --- The Avengers.
"The character comes to life, you fight the Hulk, he's batting the ball back at you, he's talking trash to you, he's a real life thing your interacting with."

A form of entertainment that is constantly evolving. "Pinball survived all the things its been through the past 50 years, I think pinball will continue to thrive."
Pinball has remained popular in Texas.

"Once you understand what you have to do to the machine then you can use some skill."

For CBS 19, I'm J.B. Smith

"Pinball is definitely here to stay." and that's my story.

The Texas Pinball Festival is held each March inDallas. Besides playing hundreds of pinball machines, the event also
includes tournaments, lectures and a chance to buy your own pinball to take home.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in Fuji Speedway time attack

From the same guys who brought us video of a street-legal Porsche 962C driving through the streets of Japan comes this latest video showing Le Mans-winning pro driver, Seiji Ara, lapping Fuji Speedway in aBugatti Veyron Grand Sport. Most of the video centers around Ara's impressions, but there is plenty of great video showing the supercar carving up the track's numerous turns and blasting along its lengthy front straightaway.

Ara says this is the most powerful car he's ever driven, so we imagine it was as much for fun for him to drive as it is for us to watch. During the drive, the camera provides a sense of what it's like to pilot the Veyron on such a challenging track, and you can hear its turbos and wastegates getting a workout. Scroll down to watch this well-shot, well-edited video of Ara and the Veyron lapping Fuji Speedway. Oh, and be sure to stick around for the end, as there's a bonus three-way drag race you won't want to miss.
